Mumbai to Shirdi Journey

Hi All,

I am planning a Mumbai - Shirdi Tour. Last year I have been there but I have used Mumbai - Kasara - Nashik - Shirdi Root.

This time I am thinking for Mumbai - Kalyan - Murbad - Malshej - Sangmner - Shirdi Root.

If someone already used this root or know this root then please share your experience.

I would like to know total kilometers in this root. Also if any other root available please share it with me.

I searched little and I am ready with my Navigator.

We will leave early morning from Mumbai. We will go via Thane-Nasik highway and will spend some time in Tansa Wildlife Century. From there we will got to Nasik - Trambkeshwar.
In evening we will go to Shirdi and will spend night over there.
Early morning we will go for pray and by noon we will leave for Mumbai (Via Malshejghat root).

I am too in a similar situation as yours. I intend to visit Nasik (Trambkeshwar temple) and adjoining areas and then to Shirdi in the month of Feb. 2009.
I have the following questions for clarification, could anyone please help me out with these?
1. Is there bus service available from Mumbai to Shirdi? What is the cost and how much time does it take to reach Shirdi?
2. Is it advised to visit Nasik first or visit Shirdi first and then do a trip to Nasik on the return.
3. How long does it take on a bus to reach between Nasik and Shirdi?
4. Is accommodation easily available at Shirdi? We shall be visiting Shirdi on a weekend. If not what are other options of staying?

Luxury buses are available in plenty. Will cost around 200-300 rs per person depending upon the vehicle. takes close to 5 hours from Vashi in Mumbai. Add 1 hour more in case you are taking the bus from westrern suburbs

Accomodation is plenty in shirdi. However, try to avoid overnight stay simply bcos you may be able to get the darshan in a days time. however, depening upon your itinery, which may inlcude visit to shani shingnapur as well, you may look for acco in Shirdi. Acco for all budgets are available in shirdi even on a weekend
