Question Mumbai to Diveagar Beach route?

Has anyone travelled by road from Mumbai to Diveagar beach near Srivardhan?

How is the road and would it be safe to travel in the night once we get off the NH17?

Divegar/Shrivardhan is 200 Kms from Mumbai, this road is safe in Night, NH17 (Pen - Goa) is two lane highway so drive safely in this patch you can follow following route.

Mumbai - Panvel - Pen - Nagothane - Uthekol - Take SH 97 - Mhalsa - Shrivardhan.

The other alternative is take Panvel - Pen - Nagothane - Roha - Murud (Take fary for Dhighi/Sarve - and Again Start your journey for Divegar. Distance wise it is little less but it is time consuming, but best thing is you will get a fary ride. I am not sure this kind of fary is exist or not, but for Bikers fary is there, that is sure.

Note : After crossing McDonald @ Panvel dont forget to take side road which is going to Panvel town otherwise you will find yourself on Express Highway and you will not get exit for next 8 KMs.

After crossing Panvel Town you will see a board for NG17 - GOA, take that route. I would prefer to use Panvel Town instead of JNPT Bypass as by pass is full of trucks and road condition is very bad, but if you find trafic in Panvel town then you can choose bypass.

Regards
Rushi

Cool

I've done this journey at night, starting at 2:30 AM from Mumbai Airport.
There are many small villages after you take the right off NH-17, so you don't have anything to be worried of.

I was, originally, pretty apprehensive about the whole plan but there were no problems. NH-17 is pretty safe that way and the fact that the area is mainly a religious place helps (most people seem to go here to visit the famous temples).
