I have not heard about Mercedes buses for Pune.
Any specific reason for Mercedes buses, Volvo buses are good and doing good. Go by train, it will be more scenaric or Cool Cab from Old Pune-Mumbai Highway which is more scenaric. Regards Rushi |

Yes there are Mercedes Buses for Dadar-Pune-Dadar.. They are equal to if not better than Volvos...

Yes, just a few months ago, Mahabus (the service from Pune-Mumbai by state transport) added some Mercedes buses to this route. Although most of time, you would find Volvo as they are more in numbers.

The current air-condition bus service is called Shivneri. There used to be Mahabus service also but it was discontinued. The differences I believe were minor.
Do the cabs go by old highway or the expressway? |

Otherwise, if the passenger specifically asks for it, there should be no problem. |

Road or Rail
Wondering which is better. For the road; I hear that traffic is bad. I am flexible and can leave anytime in the day - would mid morning be better or mid afternoon if going by car?
Thanks so much. |

Traffic on the Expressway itself is no problem at all. Getting into and out of Pune and Mumbai is what will take time, depending, of course, on what time of the day you're travelling. I'd say, leave Mumbai by mid-morning.

We dont go to Pune these days, but we do take the same route very often upto Shedung exit for Matheran. If we leave our house by 6.15-6.30 we are at Matheran in just over an hour. If we leave after 7, it can be anything from an hour and a half to two and a half hours depending on the Chembur Vashi traffic. Sometimes, 10min are wasted at the toll naka queues.
