Mumbai to Aurangabad is about 500 Kms.. ST buses would be available.. But, that would be almost 10 hours.. Better you can take trains.. There are 4 trains between Mumbai and Aurangabad..

Yes, I agree with arunganpath. Trains are a better option for Aurangabad.
What all are you planning to see there ? I am told 3 days are more than sufficient for Aurangabad & Ajanta/Ellora together.

if you are coming from mumbai then best take train and get down at Jalgaon / bhusaval, take bus from Jalgaon / bhusaval and get down (1.30 hour jouney by state bus) at ajanta, enjoy ur day there, take again bus to aurangabad, stay at some hotel, manor is good and cheap, also can try at mtdc hotel in aurangabad. then morning take bus or car or public transport to ellora on way back go to dualatabad fort. come in evening take night train back to mumbai. only one night stay in aurangabd. cost saving and full enjoyment..

Mumbai Aurangabad by bus would be a travel of around 9 hrs, by train would be travel of around 7 hrs.
Best option would be take Devagiri Express leaving CST 21:05 and reaching Aurangabad 04:00. Stay in MTDC. MTDC organises day tours to Ellora Ajanta, Daulatabad Fort, Aurangazeb's Tomb and Bibi Ka Maqbara. While returning catch either Nandigram Express or Devagiri Express. I would take the Tapovan express leaving Mumbai in the morning and reaches A'bad at 1:15 pm and is usually on time. Can spend the rest of the day relaxing in the hotel, booking tours for next few days and shopping. Return by Nandigram express.

Actually now JanShatabdi is there direct from MUMBAI to AURANGABAD and reaches Aurangabad flat 6 hours. Also heard from one of my friends that by car there is one route and you can drive to mumbai in 5 hours flat.
Regarding Hotels in Aurangabad, I will request you to check my earlier posts, some guidance about hotels might be mentioned there. |
