Mother wants pilgrimage to shirdi
Hi, can anyone help, my mother would like to visit shirdi, she is a pensioner and would be travelling with her sister. She would love to stay there for some weeks as she can’t go everyday and if she’s there she should make the most of it.
They intend to fly out from London, but that’s as much as they know. What do they do next? Where do they stay? How do they get there? Etc….. If you can help with any advise or point me in the right direction, if this information is already available. Thanks for your time. |

Route..

Mumbai to Shirdi can be done in helicopter nowadays. But you can go by road. Regular Aircon buses as well as Taxies do the nine hour drive. Lots of hotels to stay in. From humble guest houses to some three four star places. . .

There's also supposed to be a train station opening in Shirdi soon, though you can get to about 12-15kms of Shirdi by train already, just cant remember the name of the station, it's on the Manmad-Ahmadnagar line.

Do you mean Kopergaon Steve !
And to OP, Hotel MTDC [ Government of Maharashtra] is definitely worth a try which is very near to Sai Mandir [ Just 200 metres] and for 800 Rs/ Night it's worth the money [ We stayed there 1 1/2years back]. You could view my hotel Review here which is done on Feb 2007 to get an idea ! http://www.indiamike.com/india-hotel...-shirdi-h3475/ Hope this helps. |

Been a few years but you can approach it from 2 stations by rail. The authorities there have a couple of excellent sites. Unfortunately, I am on the road and don't have the bookmarks (easy to google).
The MTDC has a bus that departs for Shirdi several times a week.. |
