Matheran
Hi, I am interested to hear people's thoughts on Matheran. I am thinking of stopping there for a few days whilst in India (I am there for 3 weeks in Feb). Any suggestions? Is a three days enough to spend there?
Thanks everyone. x |

Matheran is a nice place -- great nature walks in the forests as the sulight filters through the canopy.
On my last photo trip there, I'd discovered that the rail link had been washed away during the deluge of 26/7. I was told that it'd take several months to fix, its probably not up yet. They've introduced a bus service from Nerul (the nearest station). And, taxis run up to Matheran too. Have fun. nevilleb |

Matheran is good enough for three days. Avoid weekends, as its swarming with overenthusiastic Mumbaikars then!
Do not miss the local confection called "Chikki" if you have a sweet tooth.
