Maharastran weather in June/July
What weather can I expect in Maharastra between June 15th and July 30? Will it be Maha hot the whole time, or does it cool off after the monsoon hits? When will the monsoon hit? Will it be pouring all the time, or does it clear up too? Will I be able to dry my clothes on a line outside sometimes?
I'll be heading from Mumbai to Nasik, the famous caves, and possibly all the way to Nagpur. Details will come later... just wondering what to expect weatherwise at this point |

Mid June is onset of monsoon in Mumbai. Prepare your self for rains. In Mumbai, humidity is high though it cools off a bit when it is raining. Nasik will be cooler weather wise. Happy trip

As Mahesh said, rains are expected to start ideally on 7th June but thanks to screwed up weather and it gets delayed. By mid July, certainly heavy shower will chip in with decent humidity that you will sweat. If you are a westerner, then you will sweat like pig (sorry, couldn't find better word) which you may not like so prepare yourself for that.
Nashik should be brilliant weather. If you are going to Pandavlene caves then be very careful, don't go alone. Thanks to our tourism department and it is neglected part of the history. As you travel towards Nagpur, weather will get dry and so rain may reduce as well.. |

Thanks for the info. I am a westerner (perhaps the more appropriate term in this context would be northerner - I'm from the northern US), but I've been primarily in Kerala for about six months, so I'm more or less adjusted to the heat and humidity. What I'm really wondering is, will it be hotter or rainier in Maharastra then what I'll be coming from in Kerala?
By the time I leave Kerala in late June, the monsoon will be in full swing in Kerala. |

As above cited, a lot depends on where you are located. Summer was hades for me because I was on the plains. One old man in the village took the easy way out because he couldn't take the heat another time. I understood his judgement. Nasik or Lonavalla would be interesting. My brother in law did that and just watched the rain come down continiously for a week at Lonavalla (takes all kinds). One thing I could always count on was the viz going off in the afternoon just as I most needed the fan. However, unless you are planning to be there long term you could easily pass through without great discomfort. I used to dream of air conditioning..
