May would be tourist season. If possible try going there on weekdays. The climate would be pleasant in the morning and evening. Would be hotter in the afternoon.
There are Volvo buses from Mumbai for Mahabaleshwar If you are going on your own the Pune Expressway is the best route to reach Mahabaleshwar. You will cross Panchgani first by this route. Places to see Arthur's Seat Marjorie Point Kate's Point Wilson Point (Sunrise Point) Bombay Point (Sunset Point) Elephant's head Point Mapro Farm Venna Lake Tapola Lake around 50 kms Kshetra Mahabaleshwar Another hill station close to Mahabaleshwar is Panchgani 18 kms Table Land Wonder Point Dhom Dam Sydney Point Parsi Point Pratapgad Fort on Mahad Road 27kms |

Dont miss the grilled sandwich at Mapro Farm.
You cant match a hot grilled sandwich in monsson or a cold winter morning, hope you enjoy it in May too. |

Mid monsoon would be the worst time to be here, unless sitting in hotel and talking a walk in rain is all you want to do.
Rains heavily and drivign becomes difficult due to low visibility. Smaller hotels are closed and the roadside shops and few shops are closed. So if you want to enjoy the showers either come when the monsoon has its first few showers or sometime in August when the rains might stop and all you see is greenery. |

i agree with opinion on mapro farm. i had some sandwiches for breakfast over there and the ambience was absolutely relaxing.
I was there last April and stayed at Lords panchgani at panchgani, and found it very hot for my liking. I would suggest people to visit the place early or later in the year. |
