karla caves for a day?

i want to travel to Karla caves for the day from mumbai. has anyone done it? Is ti possible and if you have done it what's the best way...hire driver, bus tour or train ...other suggestions

Did this as a day trip from Pune and they are good. Now the bad news. They are one of the places with punitive pricing (whitey pays big time). Still, thats a fact of life for travel in India these days so..
