Hindi or Marathi in Pune

I am looking for a serious Hindi or Marathi course in Pune.
Does anybody know a language school or good Hindi or marathi teacher in Pune?
Thanks!
hannah

Bumping this because I'm curious about the same thing -- apparently it has been decided that from now on, Pune will be my home base when/if I return to India. Since the main thing I want to return to do is take an intensive Hindi course, it would be great to know whether such a thing exists in Pune.

My first assumption would be that there could be something through Pune University, or that some grad students offer one-on-one lessons.

Me too! I would like to get serious about learning Hindi. Any pointers to good tutors, or courses (outside of working hours!) in Pune would be welcome.

Though are many English speaking classes, never heard of Hindi or marathi speaking ones. Probably you could identify in your neighbourhood teachers who give Hindi/ marathi tuitions for children and approach them to teach you.

Hindi classes...

Looked around endlessly when I got here - either for classes or for a tutor, no luck. I have seen some ads in the times recently - there are a couple of language schools which have begun offering this - I will try giving them a call...

(I guess up until now there were no students...)

A private tutor is much, much better. This ignites the old question, Marathi or Hindi (in a Marathi speaking area). I'll leave that to insinuation. The best method to find someone is word of mouth. Go to colleges, especially to college registrars and foreign graduate students, and meet people. Take the time to pick someone just right. It will probably be more expensive than when I studied Marathi in Pune at 6 or 8 Rupes/hour.!
