Driving from Gujarat to Konkan beaches.

Hi,
We are Planning to drive from Surat city, Gujarat to Konkan region aiming to visit amazing konkan beaches.

Time period is approximately 5-6nights/7-8 days, somewhere around 28 oct. to 6 nov.
Our budget is medium, we like raw travel with basic facility.
Rough plan is
Day 1.
Surat-mumbai-towards ganapatipule (or) may be stopover inbetween for night stay (or) turn to harihareshwar.
Day 2.
Ganapatipule.
Day 3.
Ganapatipule to tarkarli.
Day 4.
Tarkarli-sindhudurg-malvan and sight seeing.
Day 5.
Tarkarli- vengurla if possible (or) tarkarli.
Day 6.
Tarkarli- towards surat.

Kindly advise for following queries.

1. For surat to panvel which route is better, across mumbai taking sion-panvel highway (or) bypassing mumbai taking ghodbunder, thane to panvel?

2. This is my first long driving outside city so I dont want to drive more than 400 km per day. Can anyone Suggest good place to stop for over nightstay beteen mumbai to ganptipule?

2.Is there any website which mentions list of petrol pumps on national highway 17?

3. Apart from famous harihareshwar, shrivardhan, ganapatipule, tarkarli, malvan, vengurla( all of them are now very famous and became very "touristy" and croudy), any other less crowded secluded beaches approachable nearby?

4. Apart from MTDC acomodation which is full due to diwali time and crowded, any other mid range decent hotel/guest house around this beaches?

5.Can anyone suggest good vegetarian eating places in this areas?

Kindly share your knwoledge and experience and guide for this inquiries.
Thanks

Ghodbunder route ...entering mumbai is like wasting time in traffic

There are plenty of petrol pumps on NH-17.AFAIK there isnt any list as such nor is there a stretch of more than 50 kms without petrol pump.

Thanks for the reply. It will help.

But after more research, more confusion

I came across the name of dive agar beach and its scenic drive raod, so I think it also will be part of my journey.

Question is 1.harihareshwar, srivardhan, dive agar,
2. ganapatipule
3. tarkarli...
all this three different areas.
Is it possible to cover all 3 within 6 days?
Still I dont have much details about acomodation is dive agar beach.

I think coming from Surat, you should cut across at Ghodbunder rd. This would be around 250 kms and given your cut-off of around 400kms of driving you can target to reach Harihareshwar on day 1. Day 2 you spend in Harihareshwar and do a side visit to Diveagar, day 3 should take you to Ganpatiphule, where you can spend day 4 also, day 5 you can start back and stay at Kashid and day 6 reach Surat

I am more agree with plan given by spicetrekker.

Murud/Janjira and Kashid is worth to visit.

Srivardhan and Dapoli is also good option.

Stricly choose Godbander Route and goto Panvel via Airoli/Thane. and then after begin your journey for Kokan Beaches.

harihareshwar, ganapatipule and tarkarli worth to visit.

To find a good Veg-Food (Especially only Veg) is the problem in Kokan region.

When you enter to Godbunder road, in Hotel Fountain a Gujarati Restaurant called "Kansar" is good and value for money. Bhagattarachand (BTG) in Vashi is also good option.

Also take some food along with you as for some region on Pen to Tarkarli you will not get only Veg food.

When you are onthe way to Kashid just after crossing river bridge you will see one ISCON temple (Birla Temple) you will get good Veg food in near by Hotel.

In Ganapatipule you will find good Veg food. (Konkani taste)

Regards
Rushi

still there is little information avaialable about accomodation in this beaches other than MTDC.
