Coastal drive - Mumbai to Tarkarli

Am looking at driving down in Jan to Tarkarli from Mumbai in an Innova & am keen to take the scenic coastal road. We don't intend to get to Tarkarli in a hurry- the 2nd night at the earliest.

Has anyone done that route lately? Wud love to get the latest on this route & details of ferry points where I cud get my car onto the ferry.

i visited tarkarli 3 years back. it's one of the most beautiful beaches and the mtdc resort is amazing. if that's where you are staying, you dont need to take the ferry at all. it's in sawantwadi. so it's a bit of a detour on the mumbai goa road. in fact, goa is just 70-75 kms away..

Would love to do this scenice drive some day. But for now I will be travelling by Konkan Railway this Jan provided MTDC start their Scuba Diving facility.

I went this route last year, although a scenic drive, there are too many turns on this highway and some passengers got car sick because of these turns, on the way back I jumped on the mumbai-banglore highway via ajara, many tolls but a straight road, less travel sickness.
