Beaches near gujarat border..advise needed

hi all ,

we are planning a office staff picnic from Baroda for weekend(saturday-sunday eve back)

.since we have been often to diu beach , we are trying for some new beach destinations along guj-maha border at the max
our priorities are :

1) clean beach with plenty of water to bathe and not just wet your feet
2) non veg food and freely available liquor
3) cheap staying facility for group(dormitieries etc)

heard regarding dahanu and kelva beaches..arey they clean and with abundant water to bathe and enjoy..

how about staying facilities for large group(50) and non veg food and liquor (on beach allowed?)

any more suggestions of similar beaches before mumbai...traveling by bus

thanx and reagrds

Wherever you go, please do keep the beaches clean before you leave.

Kelve is in Maharshtra and not in Gujrat. You should check with Gujrat Tourism site as G ujrat is having sea shore and there are some beached as well but not very popular.

Gujarat is a dry state. Your best bet is to look in North Maharashtra .. like Dahanu Bordi

ya,,,we intend to go to beaches bordering gujarat inside maharshtra.

hence kelve/dahan,..but our fear is if the water is not clean and abundant(like diu etc) our trip -350 kms apporx-will be wasted..(not o mention a boss who will accompany us)

so can anyone suggest who has been recently to these beaches

thanx

Kelva Beach is good. Accommodation of around 50-60 will be a problem.

Bordi beach is not that good.

You could try out beaches in Uttan, Gorai etc.
Kedar Janani Devasthan, Mt Abu - Udaipur, Bharatpur, Agra, Gwalior, Orchha, Jhansi

I guess in a word, Daman.

I think its northern Devka Beach may be quite rocky, I didn't really check out the waters here; its southern Jampore Beach isn't the most splendid in the world, but it worked for me (and staying in town itself). A pic of it here with further description: http://www.indiamike.com/india-image...-jampore-beach.

I was in Daman in about late February 2009, had a really nice stay of a short week and over the week. Supposedly like Diu, on weekends and holidays/festivals it can get a little rowdy with daytrippers, and acommodation possibly becoming in short supply as well as going up in price then. When I was there, it was just pleasant and quiet, but I guess it was pretty off-season, and besides then I didn't stay for any weekend.
