Beaches around Ratnagiri...(or Goa?)

Hi everybody,

just considering staying for couple of days on some nice and clean beach during our trip to India (end of Oct/Nov)....

Anybody knows some (perfect) beach around Ratnagiri (was thinking maybe Ganapatipule - maybe you have some experience how far is it and how to get there from Ratnagiri train station and maybe some guest house/huts on the beach...... or any other recommendation?

Or we just stay in Goa and around....but was thinking and also reading maybe the Konkan coast could be nicer.....

Thanks

There's some earlier threads about this including

beaches of konkan

I usually recommend Ganpatipule. It's about 50 kms from Ratnagiri - there's plenty of buses.
If you're carrying onto Mumbai or Pune there are overnight buses to those and other destinations.
Ganpatipule is a pilgrimage town though the Konkan Railway is rapidly turning it into a weekend beach retreat for affluent Bombayites.
The beach is superb.
There are a handful of resort hotels= MTDC, Landmark Hotel ,plus private accommodation with locals.

Go before it gets covered in beachshacks selling prawns and chips and banana pancakes.

Thanks ! Looks like its the beach we are searching...We plan to take a train from Goa to Ratnagiri and as you said then the bus or maybe a driver to Ganapatipule........how long takes the bus from Ganapatipule to Mumbai? Or its better option to take a train from Ratnagiri again (the train does not stop in Ganapatipule though or....)
