Anybody in Pune? Missing a dog ...

Hi!

I was just wondering if there's anybody here staying in Pune? One of "my" street dogs has been taken by the PMC but not for the spay/neuter program, he is already neutered. From what I and my vet found out he was taken and released "somewhere in Pune", they wouldn't/couldn't tell us where. I have been to all the animal and dog shelters, nobody's seen him.

Tomorrow I will go to the Times of India office and put an ad with photo, my last chance. I hope someone will spot him and call me!

I have been taken care of the lovely little guy for 4 years ... I feel so sorry for him!

So if there's anyone here from Pune maybe they can look for him. He is a mixed breed, medium size, cream color, with a black nose, a bushy tail, he has a very friendly nature. He just had the misfortune to live in a street with a dog hater ...

Here is a photo

Wish me and him luck!

He might find his way home - those dogs all have their own "territory" and incredible sensory techniques to relocate it .... so leave a towel with your scent on it by his
bowl on the porch for some extra help.

We lost our Labrador Retriever at a Picnic one day (chased a deer) .... and he showed up at home the next afternoon from a distance of about 10 miles as the crow flies.

Thank you for the encouragement. I also hope that he'll find his way back but he's now gone for three weeks ... surely that's too long?

It's also impossible to tell how far away they brought him. Oh, these morons!

Oh dear Noodle.

I'll have to spare Mrs Cyberhippie this one I fear, or she'll just get her Jacket On..........................

I know how you feel we've lost three over the last few years, "companions from the street" they are the smartest dogs you'll ever meet, a wee bit of love and affection transforms them, but give them the darkness, and the howls of the wild, will fill the night!!

He/She looks like a rascal, good luck noodle, peakXV's comments make a lot of sense, dogs are incredible at finding the way home!!

I sure hope he does!

Went to the Times of India office this morning, ready with my text and photo. I was told that anybody who wants to place a 'Lost and Found' ad has to produce a police complaint (even if the ad is placed in the 'Pets' category). Means I would have to report the dog stolen at the police which I was told by an Indian friend is a lot of hassle, if not impossible since I have nothing to show that this was my dog.

I will try another newspaper. Hope they don't all have this policy.

cyberhippie, how did you lose the dogs? Also by the feared dog catcher van?

Does yr dog answer to any name? It would be easier to identify.
Am interested in visiting yr dog shelter .... any contact number? I'm in Pune until tomorrow and my local number is: 9890350026 - it's in my daughters name. I'm free in the evening and could easily visit.....

Hi Pintz!

Well, I called him Bobby, but other people called him differently and I never felt that he was really on alert when I called his name.

"My" dog shelter is called Jeev Raksha Animal Welfare Trust, located at 4A, Queens Garden Road, Pune 411001. It's behind the Residency Club, not far from the station. Tel: 020-26362857. You can ask for Kuttiwali Bai if you get lost on the way, in that area everybody knows her. The lady is really called Lila Parulekhar. She is asking visitors to not come between 1 and 4pm because the gogs will all bark and then neighbours complain.

You're a dog lover too?

I've been twice to the Blue Cross and twice to the SPCA (the latter a horrid place, btw, I sent a Cruelty Complaint to the WSPA and RSPCA UK). I've left photos at both places, I talked to the vets and staff at both places. My own vet called PMC but got nowhere with them. I've called two other private shelters ... I don't know what to do anymore ...

Yes, do!

The ad will now be in the Indian Express on Saturday and next week Wednesday and Friday. I didn't include the photo as they charge more than 5,000 Rs for a 4 by 5 cm picture!!
