| Dr. - I hope by this time you might have gone and see AJANTA-ELLORA. Lonar was a well picked destination. You have to have your own vehicle to travel with a MARATHI driver. Accommodation in AJANTA is possible-there is one MAHARASHTRA Govt. hotel which is just opposide-top of the ridge and you have full view of caves from there. They have stairs coming down also ...try this. I pitched tent there while trekking in this distt. in 2005. Roads are fine...not much hastle..but travel with ease..you never know what is stored for you when you are on road in INDIA  I had some images I shot when stayed at Lonar-pitched tent there...and explored full circuit...and MARUTI TEMPLE which is actualy a rock from heaven ! NASA has also some studies done at LONAR. Water here has pH 11.8 Do not forget to walk full circuit through jungle and bushes...do not curse me if you could not find trail...it is there...here or there ! DO NOT FORGET TO PLACE COUPLE OF IMAGES OF THOSE MAGNIFICIANT TEMPLE RUINS HERE- They were broken by MUSLIM INVADERS and much of the art and craft was looted by them and then by locals...but still plenty is scattered there ! |
