Ajanta Ellora in august
Hello I'll be in maharasta in august, I know that is not the best month to be there for the rain. Ajanta and Ellora is as wet as mumbai or is dryer??? is much better go to east or stay on the coast??
Thanks |

Yes, Ajanta and Ellora don't get that heavy rains. You can surely visit the two places in August. In fact heat would be lesser at that time of the year.

Given that the rains have virtually failed so far, August would probably be an excellent time to go, with fewer visitors and discounted off season rates. You can also visit the Lonar crater, a few hours drive away. It is the worlds second largest meteorite crater.
Please post your experiences and photos. |

i went to Ajanta in early April. It was bone dry and 43 Cel. in the shade. The month of August may bring rains which will make
MUST SEE Daulatabad fort near Ellora look quite green and the waterfalls at both cave sites will be present insh`allah and the river at Ajanta will be flowing too.Allow afull day for each site. |

Aurangabad caves are worth a look too.Karle cave near Lonavla is said to be the best preserved and biggest of all the bhuddhist cave temples in India.
Once you have got the cave temple bug you can see more near Bhubaneshwar, Badami,Nasik,Mahabalipuram and so on. Last edited by safari vala : Aug 4th, 2008 at 09:43. Reason: spelling! |
