accomodation question Ellora & Ajanta
HI there,
We are on our way to Aurangabad to visit Ellora and Ajanta caves. I read in my LP (this year new) that the MTDC Travellers Lodge (next to the entrance) propably is open by now after renovations.. Is there anybody who can update me on this issue (and tell me if it is worthwhile to stay there). If not, what are alternatives. We plan to go from there to Mandu, so we'll definitely don't want to do it from Aurangebad. And what about Ellora? This wpuld be doable from A. but what about the Kailash hotel? I saw their prices on the internet (2000-900), would it be worth it? Otherwise what is a recommendable place to stay in Aurangebad?? Hope to here your tips and advices; will read them in Bijapur, our next stop. Thanks in advance, greetings, Mea |

forget to tell we are "mostly" budgettravelling backpackers, but because we are a little bit older these days, we could spend a bit more money if it is really worth it

it's all about the shree maya hotel
great service, clean rooms and the terrace is a sweet place to relax and eat. only a 5 minute walk from the tour departures at the MTDC and the train station is even closer. ellora tours include daulatabad fort and some local attractions in aurangabad. the ajanta tour is also doable but a fair hike on the bus, 3 hours i think. great scenery to travel through though, i really enjoyed it.oh, and the internet connection is quicker than a quick thing. i paid 475 Rs a night including breakfast and found it great value ![]()

Update:
W've been to Aurangabad and stayed at the Shree Maya. A great tip and a great place to stay. The sitting-area was a nice place to meet other travellers. So I support the recommendation for it. When going to Ajanta we spent te night in Fadaphur(?) (close to the T-Junction) which was oke. Because we were so close we entered the caves at 9.00 am(opening time) and avoided that way a lot of the crowds who where coming in while we left (it was om a saterday. We left our luggage in the cloackroom and took the bus (you can do it from the T-junction or from Fadahpur - 2 km ahaed on the road to Jalgaon) to Jalgaon. Here we stay in Hotel Plaza, in a very (very) nice room (little splurge for 900 rp). This hotel is 100 m from the railwaystation and also recommendable. They have rooms in all priceranges and it is very clean, with a very helpful owner. So, I hope this helps future travellers. Wherever you go, enjoy, greetings, Mea |

Thanks folks, this was the exact information I was looking forward to, I had absolutely no whereabouts about the staying there. Further I do not have anyone known living close there. It was by stroke of luck I found this place and what more the exact details for which I was looking for. Confident now my trip to the caves would be hassle free as I now know what I need to do. Thanks again.
