Good question. There's a cultural calendar in Hindi here: http://mpculture.in/html/kala-panchang.asp. So now if one of our Hindi-speaking members can read it, maybe we'll find out more

ps As so often btw, it does indeed not seem easy to find any definitive dates on it. You might try and email, or phone, the MP tourism department about it http://www.mptourism.com/, or that cultural dept. above.

Hmm.. kindly be forewarned .. the dates are changed at the whim and fancy of the cultural deptt. and local administration. As a local resident and a regular visitor to the festival , will post info as soon as it is finalized.

There is absolutely no entry fees for the festival. The seating is on first come first served basis only. ;-) Foreign tourists (esp. those with camcorders n zoom lens fitted cameras :-)) are allowed entry in the first row (V.I.P.seating) also.

some sites claim the festival will start from 3rd til 6th, other 9 - 12 dec. The latter sounds more definitive, but if anyone can find out for sure, please post!

I'm in Gwalior now. So apparently the festival will not be held at Tansen Tomb this year, but at a place called Bejatal (not sure how it's written) anyway it's quite central. There will be worshipping at Tansen Tomb from 9:00 Tomorrow (9th) and the festivities should start at 19:00 tomorrow at Bejatal (awards ceremony and music.
