| The distance is 175 Kms one way, however for a taxi you'll have to pay for both way. Now a days the going rate for a small Tata Indica car is Rs. 5 per KM so you should expect to pay You should expect to pay around Rs. 1500/-. taxi will take 3 hrs or so. Howver there is a local train 229A, it leaves Jhansi daily at 7.25 a.m. and arrives at 12.10 p.m. Coming back, train 230A departs from Khajuraho daily at 12.30 p.m. and reaches Jhansi at 5 p.m. It also stops in Orchha, if you want to visit Orchha also. It is a local train and can not be booked on internet. Plus it will stop at numerous stops enroute.

| Yes ! You can pool in travelers and share costs ! As I have given you an Indian price. A Westerner will be quoted at least 50% more and then it's up to your bargaining power. |

| In case you are coming from Delhi, getting off the train in Jhansi and are headed to Khajuraho, there is now a direct train from NZM station,New Delhi direct over-night to Khajuraho - train # 2448, the UP Sampark Kranti Express. |

first at all congratulations for this site, it's a great forum. I'm planing to visit Khajuraho. Coming from Delhi and I would like to reach Khajuraho during the morning. Currently the unique option that I have found to do this is taking a train from Delhi at 22:30 (July 21) and arrive to Jhansi at 3:59am. Then, take a taxi and drive to Khajuraho. However I'm a little scared of doing this, is my first time in India and I don't know how safe this option is. What do you think? I tried to find the Sampark Kranti Express in the indiarailways site to book it, but I could not find it. Many many thanks in advance for your help, Greetings, Burton | |

| What's the problem in booking tickets from Hazrat Nizamuddin Station(Delhi): NZM to Khajuraho : KURJ ? The timings are perfect for you and the train is showing up very much on the booking site. Only it runs 3 times a week - Tues , Friday , Sundays from Delhi. Site : irctc.co.in Train : 2448 U P Sampark Kranti Start :NZM Dep 21.25 Pm Destination : KURJ Arr : 7.50 Am Just put in the Station codes as above and book your tickets. Why take the hassle of a road trip ? |
