What are people's impessions of Indore?
I am considering traveling to this city and am wondering if anyone can tell me a bit about it, including about the night market (from 11:00pm-3:00am!)at Sarafa St, which I'm told is essentially snack heaven. Also I can't find many photos of Indore online so if anyone knows of any links that would be appreciated too. Thanks!

Indore is not on any tourist map. I have been there many times and for some reason it just doesn't appeal to me.
They call it the commercial capital of MP, Bhopal being the political capital. Having said that, people of Indore are great foodies. The night market you mentioned is also known as Chappan bhog (56 dishes) which is basically a multi storey building selling a variety of food. It really does get busy after dusk. A crowd of 200 in an ice cream parlour, at 1 am in the morning is not unheard off. If i were you, and with the benefit of knowing the place, a day at most is what I would spend in Indore. From Indore, you can travel to Bhopal and perhaps stay put for 3 or 4 days. There's plenty to see. If you need info on Bhopal and places to see in and around, feel free to ask. |
