Tour itinerary advice - Indore,Ujjain,Panchmari,Bhedag hat

Dear All

I am planning to visit MP in end November and want to visit indore,Ujjain, panchmari and bhedaghat.I am visiting my relatives in Indore for around 4 days and looking forward to see Mandu, omkarewsar , Ujjain and any other place which you might suggest.

From indore to panchmari what is the best mode of transport as I will be visiting along with my wife and 5 year old kid. Is any regular bus service from indore to panchamri.
What is the distance and travel time. In panchmari I have gone thro MP tourism site and found few hotels which are in my budget.
Amaltas,Hiltop bunglow, hotel highland, panchvati Any suggestions from natural beauty ,access point of view ? Two days sufficient to at least have glimpse of Panchmari and nearby places ?

Regarding bhedaghat please suggsest me best way to cover the place . I want to catch a train from Jabalpur at noon time for ahmedbad back.so suggest me itinerary form panchmari to bhedaghat.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Hi pmtetc,

Another place you might like to visit from Indore is Maheshwar, also on the Narmada river. If you were travelling by car it would be easy to combine this in a day trip to Omkareshwar, and possibly Mandu as well though that would depend how much you like to do in a day. It could be a bit much, especially with a child. If you're doing it by bus it would be slow and uncomfortable - MP roads are not the best!

As for going from Indore to Pachmarhi, I don't know about direct buses but did you know MP Tourism run a bus from Bhopal to Pachmarhi? It's comfortable and direct so you might like to consider getting a bus up to Bhopal and then getting the MP bus. (It's only once a day I think, and I can't remember what time - sorry)

Two full days in Pachmarhi would be enough to give you a feel for it but if you can manage more time that would be good too!

Bhedaghat/Marble Rocks: I think the best time to go is in the evening just as the sun is getting low so it really shines on the marble. So I'd suggest you go by train from Piparia (the closest station to Pachmarhi; plenty of buses and jeeps going down) to Jabalpur in the daytime and then go out to Bhedaghat. Then you would have a relaxed morning in Jabalpur before the train back to Ahmedabad.

I remember in Jabalpur - many years ago now - a really well-kept park in the middle of the town with a little toy train that kids can ride on, your 5 year-old might like it.

Julia F , Thank you very much for your detailed info. Based on your input I am planning to travel by Train instead of my initial planning of using Roads. I found one direct train from Indore to Jabalpur . After Jabalpur - Panchmari and back. Thanks again for giving me this idea !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Regarding Bhedaghat and Panchmari Hotels I am bit confused . In one of the thread I read that do not stay in Bhedaghat and one thread suggests to stay in MPTDC hotel in Bhedaghat.Any more comments .Visit to Jabalpur for me is because of Bhedaghat only so I would like to stay at MPTDC Bhedaghat. Dear All Please share your views , reviews .....

Panchmari - From indiamike I learned that there is no public transport system in Panchmari and to move along with my 5 year old kid please suggest me place from where I can easily reach Town centre at the same time place is not in middle of shops and
busy market !!!!!!!!! ( best of both worlds !!!!!!! asking too much right ?). Again Based on indiamike reviews I am of opinion to
stay in one of the MPTDC hotel. Please share specific info regarding
(1) Amaltas
(2) Hotel Highlands
(3) Hiltop Bunglow
(4) Panchvati
All above names I got from MP tourism website but I do not have idea where they are located and Adv and Disadvantage.

Thanks in advance you all for taking your valuable time out and assisting guys like me for finalising their itinerary and holidays !!!!!!

My initial reaction when I read this was 'Oh no, that will be a really slow train'. I looked it up on erail - there's only one train, the overnight 8233 Narmada Exp, and it is indeed really slow, over 13 hours.

I was going to suggest going to Khandwa or Bhopal to get a faster train, but then maybe it suits you better to have a long journey and, hopefully, a good sleep.
