Raigarh?? Noob with lots of questions

I'm a helicopter pilot with some job offers in India. One of them is in Raigarh, for Jindal.
As you can see, this is my first time posting. I've been lurking for a few weeks trying to get information.

My questions are; what's life like in Raigarh??
Does anybody know about Jindal, and the powerplant??
I have pictures of the housing, but was hoping to here from someone that is actually living/working there.
What is nearby Raigarh for recreation or sightseeing??
What airport would I fly into to get too Raigarh???

I'm sure I'll come up with more questions, but I this is a good start. Thanks to all who reply.

India Noob

Well, I can say 'Welcome to the site '

Can't be of any practical help, though...

Nearest airport (I think) is in Raipur.

There is still a lot of nature left in Chhattisgarh, though around Raigarh there is really a lot of industry. So, head south. Also nice to see tribal life in that state.

Jindal (at least with environmentalists and related ngos) has a bad reputation. They are poluting the whole area there. Another topic is/was the displacement of the local people to set up the plant (and the city). They are actually even accused of hefty crimes (even murder).

Well that's nice to know, since I'll be living at the plant in there housing complex.
They want me to fly there helicopter(I'm a helicopter pilot). Right now I'm still negotiating a few things, like pay.
Are there any stores in Raigarh that would sell amercian type goods??? I've looked at it on google earth, and it seems total 4th world...all dirt roads and shanties.

The reason you have so few replies is that your thread was parked in the nether-world of 'Other Areas', where not many folks browse. Moved to the correct sub-forum now.

One thing I can tell you - forget about any kind of recreational facilities (except as provided by the employer) or any fancy stores - this is real boon-dock country.

Yea, I got that impression my looking at Google Earth. I don't think there are any paved roads in the entire town.

One bad thing is that now my "employer" is dragging his feet due to the economy. Seems they may not "need" two helicopter pilots right now. Although, I would have thought the power company/steel company would be better cushioned against the failing economy.

Who do you fly for, and what are you flying?? Who is hiring in country right now?? I don't have an ATP, but have first class medical, and time in a lot of different helicopters.
