I have been there twice....and one of the most memorable place to go is Mahadeo temple on the hillock...

By the way has anybody gone down the Handi Khoh....apparently a forest officer told me that there is a trek to that place which takes two days....

Any Idea??????????????????

I am not sure about Handi Khoh, but my guide has told me that we can go down to the base of silver falls / rajat parpat and it takes about 2 to 3 hours, but only serious trackers should attempt this and no family and kids.

Yeah I know....I had done that trek...but actually it is very difficult, it takes more than 4-5 hours... and the trek is very very slippery at points and therefore you need very good pair of shoes to do that.... not advisable to anybody who doesnt have any prior trakking experience

Not sure about first week of september. July-August is peak monsoon time in MP. This year monsoon is set to arrive early ...by 15th June. So september 1 st week may be clear..
However Pachmarhi or shall i say any hill station is beautiful in the rains..

All the waterfalls and some of the sites are approachable by foot on a dirt / mud track. If wheather is clear then you can go for the falls.

Keep one for each day.. BeeFall, Apsara and my favourite and most difficult....the Dutches fall...

Don,t forget to take your swimming trunks...towels...and have a ball

Hey thanks for that info EOS.

It will be great if somebody recommend me a good reasonably priced easily accessible Hotel in PanchMarhi. I look forward for a hotel with daily charges in the range of 1000-1300 Rs. Rooms should be specious..

I went through the hotels listed on MPtourism.com, and found that 2-3 hotels fall in that price range. Hotel HighLands, Club View and Amaltas. Anyone been to anyone of these.. how is Amaltas..

Do they give some discount if we book for 6 days or something.. Is there any other hotel you can recommend.. Thanks,..

I will be in Pachmarhi this August. Is that a ridiculous idea? Also any cheap accomodation info is appreciated. I am driving here with friends and we will be cash strapped after a long drive from hyderabad. So a cheap acco is all we look for.

Hi,

I had been to Pachmarhi in Oct'96 with my family and till date it's been one of the most beautiful place I have seen, mainly bcoz it was so untouched and wild...
I am now planning to go there for my honeymoon...Can someone tell me:
1. Whether it still retains the same beauty
2. Is mid-March a good time to go there
3. Any good and comfortable places to stay (MP Tourism site wasn't of much help in this )

Any other travel tips are welcome )
Thanks,
HTAS

1.
2.

Went there in May this year. Stayed in MP tourism Hotel Highlands. Its just as you enter Pachmarhi on the left side.
Decent option for 700 Rs. However since its your Honeymoon then you may think of splurging a bit and look for something more upmarket.
Anyways march is off-season and you can pick and choose when you go there..

Hai,

I was there last month, have a look see at this thread: Madhya Pradesh: Temples, hills, marble rocks, waterfalls, tigers and Erotic Statues.

Place was packed yet, still unspoilt, would recommend it highly to you. MP tourism is OK, our stay @ Glen View was good, it's gret value for money.

Awesome place, you'd need 3 days plus if you want to scratch the surface.

Definitely a minimum of 3 days stay. If you cover the three falls (Bee, Apsara & Dutchess) one a day then i would recommend a rest day in between. So that makes it 4 days...

Always loved going to Pachmarhi.....enjoy your trip...

We're planning a 3 days trip. Right now, am primarily concerned about finding a good place to stay!! Also, can anyone tell me how much time does it take to drive down from Bhopal and what modes of transport are available.
Thanks again

It will take 4-5 hrs from Bhopal to Pachmarhi by Taxi.
MP tourism also runs a Bus service to Pachmarhi from Hotel Palash. I'm not sure about timings...but one overnight bus is also there.
Give a ring to Bhopal MP tourism office for details...

Attaching a PDF at the bottom of my post with distance and time; if you look at my log on 26th, from Hoshangabad to Panchmarhi it took 3 hours of drive time, excluding time for lunch and fuel at Pipariya. From Bhopal to Hoshangabad you should plan for about 90-120 mts, so that would take about 4-5 hours including a good break in-between, if you are driving.

Lots of taxis available from Bhopal, we saw many during Diwali time, people came up to Bhopal by train and hired taxis to reach Panchmarhi.

I saw MP Tourism Bus on the way up, check with MPTDC, there were people who were staying at Glen View, MPTDC who came by that bus.

Be prepared to do lots of trekking, most places require quiet a bit of walking / trekking down and up to reach the beauty spots. I saw many were totally un-prepared and were taken by surprise

Happy Traveling,

--ARKZ
