Bhopal sighseeing options

Hey

I am going to be in Bhopal from 8th - 12th Sept. I would like to know which places are worth visiting in and around Bhopal. Is it feasible to see Sanchi, Khajurao and Omkaleshwar keeping the base as Bhopal and considering the time constraints.

There are so many interesting places around Bhopal....

Raisen, Sanchi, Vidisha (Udaigiri caves), Satdhara, Islamnagar and Narsingarh. All this places are north of Bhopal at distances between 11 to 70 km.

Bhojpur, Salkanpur, Bhimbetka, Adangarh and Hoshangabad are south of Bhopal 15 - 70 km.

Omkaershwar, Maheshwar, Mandu, Khajuraho, etc. are far away to consider Bhopal as a base city.

Jorge has pretty much covered the places around Bhopal.

As for the places "in" Bhopal ....Bharat Bhavan, Manav Sangrahalaya, a drive upto van vihar on upper lake and if you have small kids along then van-vihar is certainly a must...

Tajul Masjid with its high minarets is also worth a dekko...

All above places are near the upper lake and can be combined easily. Do check out the cultural activities at Bharat Bhavan in the evening. Some of the live plays are excellent...

Although its a little far, you might consider Pachmari. Approx 200km from bhopal.

do a day trip to udaigiri and sanchi (easily accessible by public transport and auto rickshaw), another day trip to bimbetka (you'll need to have a car), and then a day exploring the bharat bhavan and the Manav Sangrahalaya (do not miss this!) and another day in the old city.
