Bhedaghat - Kanha - Khajuraho

Hi,

I am planning to visit MP in December. Planning to take a train from Chennai to Jabalpur.
=> Visit Bhedaghat...Stay there overnight (Any good hotels in the area?)
=> Head to Kanha - what is the best mode of transportation for this leg? Are there good buses? Or would you suggest a taxi?
=> 2 Days at Kanha
=> Off to Khajuraho - again, how do I make this trip - buses/taxis?
=> 2 days at Khajuraho
=> Train back to Chennai from Satna.

Is this a reasonable itinerary?
Is December a good time to visit Bhedaghat, Kanha?
Is it possible to visit Orchha in a day from Khajuraho?

Thanks in advance for helping out!!!!

During our 2005 itinerary we visited this area and had a car + driver with us.
We stayed in Jabalpur but when we visited Bhedagat we discovered there is at least one good hotel.

The ride from Jabalpur to Kanha was something of three hours, Bhedagat Jabalpur is a very short ride.
From Kanha to Khajuraho was 1.5 day of driving, we stayed a night in Satna.

As far as I know it will be hard to visit Orchha from Khajuraho in one day, at least with public transport.

Thanks, Vonkla!
I am on a slightly tight budget, so I would like to stick to public transportation wherever possible. Are there buses on the Jabalpur/Kanha route?

For the Kanha - Khajuraho leg, is it better to go back to Jabalpur and take a train to Satna?

I think Dec is a perfectly 'cool' time to visit this area. But if you are a regular chennai resident may be even too cool?

I think your schedule is good overall. Can't comment on transport as I went by own car. I think buses/taxis should be possible everywhere. If you go all the way to Khajuraho then Orchaa is must-see. That will take 1 day by itself. Anyway see this page in my blog, if anything useful to you is there

Thanks Bluechip! Your travel blogs are quite fascinating!

Is the Fossils Park near Jabalpur worth a visit? I was not able to get a lot of information on this park...

Hi Nebulous,

If you scroll down to the bottom of this thread you will find some other threads related to you question.

For Jabulpur to Khajuraho it is best to take a train to Satna.
For busses from Jabalpur to Kanha see http://www.lonelyplanet.com/india/ma...ing-there-away

On the following site there is some information about the entrance fees for Kanha.

OMG! I don't think I know much about weather . My guess is, it should be nice and cool in almora, binsar, and khajurahao. I like it even more in Dec when it will be colder!

The one place I dislike in Oct is Mumbai; where I am stuck now.

And thanks for liking my travelogue
