Amarkantak

Dear friends,

I wish my parents to visit Amarkantak. They are staying near Vapi. I would like to know from Vapi how can they go to Amarkantak by train. Which are the religious places there other than the Narmada Temple. How many days can they stay there to see all the places.

Thanks

Mani.

Nearest Station is Pendra Road, However it's better to get down at Bilaspur Junction and hire a vehicle from here. There are many spots here Sonemuda, Mai ki Bagiya, Kapildhara, Kabeer Chabutra etc.....They can cover all major places in a single day, if they use a taxi.

Pendra Road is between Katni en Bilaspur and quit a lot of trains stop here. From Pendra Road to Amarkantak by car is about one hour.
We came from Amarkantak but at the station there were plenty of cars waiting for passengers so hiring one will be no problem.
We stayed there last January for 2.5 days.
On one of these days we hire a car + driver + guide. We have a wonderful day and see temples, waterfalls, view points and holy men and women. Sometimes along the road and other times we first have to ride/walk trough the woods.
If your parents want to attend the ceremonies, we hardly did that, they will need two or three days I guess.

Thanks Delhiwala and Vonkla for your valuable reply. How is the weather there in April - May? My parents just want to have Darshan - no ceremonies.
