Orchha Hotels.

Depends on what kind of environment you prefer. There are some good hotels and resorts. State govt run hotel Sheesh Mahal, Betwa Retreat, Amar Vilas and other too. Amongst the budget guest houses you may find Ganapati guest house and others.

If you need any help or details regarding Orchha, Map, Pics, help etc. don't hesitate to PM me.

P.S. Mods: Please move this thread to appropriate state's forum. Rajasthan to MP.

From a quick web search it appears there is an Orcha (as opposed to Orchha) which may or may not be situated in Rajasthan.

Maybe the original poster can specify what state we're talking about.

(... Wait, digging some more: yes, it may be an alternative spelling for the same place, obviously. Anyway: let OP speak )

Thanks - I decided to go with Bundelkhand Riverside Orccha. It looks great online. Know anything about it? I had to reserve through regular email and not a secure server - hope that's O.K. Also, now I'm looking for a place in Khajuraho. Any ideas? Thanks for your help! How do I PM on here?

Yes, Bundelkhand Riverside is also one of the good resorts there. I have not been to that place but have seen it from outside. It looks good too. I had always used MPTDCs Sheesh Mahal / Betwa Retreat.

You mean that you sent payment details (CC etc) over email? I would not do that because even if they keep the info safe/secure, then too there is a risk in transmission.

In Khajuraho there is a hotel named Payal (if I remember the name correctly) that is also run by state govt and should be okay. But there are other good hotels too.

reg. PM. you can go to any user's profile and find a link to PM.

Another hotel is Jhankar also by MPTDC

Both costs INR 1200 (approx) The MPTDCs web site might have up to date details.

Try the Maharaja or Maharani suite in Orchha if you can change your booking and if the budget is not a problem. It should be an experience you will remember a long long time.

I second that... It's wonderful (actually liking for it varies with indivudual's preferences)

Richeek, you forgot to specify that the above suites are at SheeshMahal.

I had not stressed on this because magsemail had already gone for other resort viz Bundelkhad Riverside and that too is very good. In fact, both of them are good in their own domain and style. Whereas one is a real historic and royal place(Sheesh Mahal) the other one has much more capacity (Riverside) and perhaps more aminities. e.g pool etc. Even Amar Mahal has got a decent landscape and facilities but all said and done, Maharaja suite at Sheesh Mahal is really an experience

booking of sheesh mahal in Orchha via the mp-tourism website

For quite some time now I am trying to get in contact with the Madhya Pradesh tourism agency via info@mptourism.com. Over the website http://www.mptourism.com they now offer online hotel room booking for their properties. But it just states - 100 % advance payment is required.

Does anybody know if I could make the online booking using my credit card? But it is not issued in India, since I am living abroad. Or is it only possible via bank transfer - which will cost me a ton of money and I don't want to do.

Any other tips for me how I could make a booking at the Sheesh Mahal in Orchha?

Thanks for your help!!!

mp tourism website

i am still trying to make a reservation at the sheesh mahal in orchha.

non of my emails to info@mptourism.com or to hsmorchha@sancharnet.in were answered to far.

online booking via the mptourism website is available - but does anybody know, if i could make the booking using a mastercard that was issued outside of india? on the website it just says - 100 % advance payment required - but not how the payment is supposed to be made.

thanks for helping me out!!!

I believe the place I stayed was called Ganpati guest house. Rooms were clean, large with large ensuite, and the place is well situated with really beautiful views of the palace. I believe he has a mix of air-con, air-cooled and fan rooms at a range of prices.

Sheesh Mahal's phone number and an email address, and some photos, are listed on this page, along with other Orchha hotels:
