Hugobaur,

Last August 2005 I've stayed in Hotel Lake View Ashok in Bhopal. The hotel is located in Shyamla Hills a nice area far from the busy bazaars, in general is not bad with a good restaurant and a nice view over the great lake, expensive in my opinion (2000 Rs).

Have a look at the hotel.

A few months ago, for a splash, I stayed for a few nights in the MPTDSC Palash in TT Nagar in Shamla Hills. It was very expensive by Indian standards (I think around Rs2500) and but the rooms were huge and marbled with all mod cons, and the restaurant was great. The senior staff were a little unwelcoming though.

MPTDSC bus from Indore pulls up right outside (of course) so it was a handy place to stay as well if you're coming in that direction.

Some nice bazaars around but it's 15mins in a rickshaw to the town centre.
