Chitrakoot visited

Just came back from Chitrakoot. It's a charming little pilgrim town on the MP UP border, off the tourist grid. I have posted 15 pix on my website. Check them out:

Cool

Hi,

Thanks for the info and the pics.We must still look for the odd man. The story probably has not yet ended.

I have the idea to stay in Chitrakoot on my way from Varanasi to Khajuraho.

Any other interesting places near Chitrakoot?? Did you visit Ajaigarh, Kalinjar...??

Jorge

I didn't visit those towns. I would be interested in your report. Chitrakoot would be a good stopover from Varanasi to Khajuraho. But I wouldn't recommend the train from V to Karsi. Better get a fast train to Allahabad - 2 hours - then bus to Karsi (3 or 4 hours). This should bring the trip down from 10 to 6 hours with option of staying in Allahabad if it gets late. The helpful jeep driver just might not be waiting at 1.00am next time.

The MP bungalow was good. (Not to be confused with the UP Tourist Bungalow a few hundred metres away)The restaurant food was edible. Rooms were spacious. Hot water was available throughout the day. Price around 550 for a double. The manager was a very personable fellow and offered to arrange additional creature comforts.
