Bandhavgarh National Park

Our guidebook says Bandhavgarh is worth visiting from Varanasi, however we're not sure if we should hop a train to Katni or Umaria. We want to stay over somewhere as some trains get in late at night or very early in the morning. Anyone done this trip independently? Thanks for any assistance!!

BTW I used the search function for Bandhavgarh and nothing came up, here. I searched www.dogpile.com & a post from IM came up.

Train 8202 departs Varanasi at 18:55 and gets to Umaria at 06:55, though this train only runs on Fridays and Sundays.

3-tier air con = Rs 618
Sleeper Class = Rs 230 (not air con)

Train 1062 (M, W, F, Su) and train 1066 (Tu, Th, Sa) departs Varanasi at 23:35 and gets to Katni at 07:50

2-tier air con = Rs 772
3-tier air con = Rs 497
Sleeper Class = Rs 187

Thanks very much for the train info, steven. I did check indian rail's website however no-one so far can tell me whether this park is worth a visit. If accom is prohibitively expensive like at Corbett and if they charge silly entrance prices & insist on the use of expensive jeeps with guides, then we'll give it a miss! Thks again for your input.
