Question About 10 days in MP ~ need some toughts & ideas

I will be headed to Jaipur with my girlfriend in mid jan, and from there into MP. We are both reasonably experienced India travelers. We have money to hire a driver but prefer trains and buses are pretty much last resort.

In MP we are hoping to:
-get some rest
-see some temples / historical sights
-enjoy some nature
-if lucky see some tigers

The plan as of now looks something like this:

Jaipur -> Agra (1/2 day + 1/2 day in Agra)
-Not sure the best way to do this. Bus or train anyway. No way will I ever go in a car on that road again!
-Day of arrival: See the Fort.
-Next Morning: See Taj Mahal
-Depart after the Taj.

Agra -> Orchha (1-3 days in Orchha)
-Along the way we are considering stopping for a few hours, 1/2 day or something at Gwalior / Daultabad? / Jhansi on our way to Orchha.
-Stay in Orchha for a day or 3

Orchha -> Bhopal (2 days in Bhopal)
-In Bhopal spend a day in town seeing the sights
-Second day seeing the sights outside of town as suggested:
--Go first Bhimbetika (Cave paintings)
--then Bhjojpur
--then Vidisha (5 kms from Sanchi)
--finally Sanchi / see sunset

Bhopal -> Panchmarhi (via Pipariya)
-Take some hikes
-Satpura Tiger Reserve? A safaris would be nice but with little expectation of seeing tigers here.
-I have also head of Madhai but I don't know where or what this is.

When done, return to Bhopal and take the train back to Delhi.

On the other hand we may prefer to head straight for Kahna. We are somewhat torn between wanting to see tigers in Kahna, or enjoying a less touristy experience elsewhere.

Anyone have any thoughts about this plan? I am pretty open to suggestions and alternate cities, parks etc.

TIA!

Orchha can be magical: enjoy it ! (True, the complaints, inc. posts here, about its impending ruination are not without foundation--but it can be a v. evocative place.) 3 nights m/b sufficient. (As f/ hotels, the Sheesh Majal has a great location up within the palace complex, but it's also hard by the village, & its noise. Check into the various 'cabin' hotels out along the Betwa. With luck, or early rising, you may have the river--looked clean in November--& the v. moody cenotaph complex to yourself, plus a few requisite cows.)

However, if you think the road from Delhi to Agra is bad ('no way'), you will be sadly disappointed by the conditions of the 'highways' in southern M.P. Fair warning. . . (The main drag in Orchha is itself a treat: 1 lane, really--effectively kept that way by its 3 narrow arches. For yrs now, they've been 'working on the bypass.')

Gwalior is tough to navigate, though the fort complex is worth a morning. Good luck w/ your trip !

You were referring to the road between Jaipur & Agra (& agree completely !).

So clearly you know the road conditions you might expect around Orchha.

In Orchha can stay at Fort view guest house- 300 Rps mobile:09425342319 tel:07680-252701.First place on the left entering Orchha, hot shower, place to sit outside with view of fort. Sheesh Mahal think starts at 1200 Rps. "Main Drag"as to a month ago all the asphalt was pulled up-dusty.
Bhopal - big area containing built villages from all over Inda, intresting can't remember the name but not far from New MP tourist office, takes quite a while to go round and see it all
Sanchi wothwhile spending time while light is good to all see the beautiful carvings.
