A trip to Khujoraho and Orchha

Hi,

I wish to take a weekend trip to Orchha and Kahjuraho at the end of Sepetember from Delhi. Is this the right time to visit the place, climate-wise. How about driving from Delhi? or is it best to take the train. We are tryin to utilise the three day dussehra holidays( saturday, sunday and Monday) all inclusive.

Looking forward to hear your suggestions.

I am sure you will have a lovely time out there in both the places but do give more time if possible as they both require at least three days each!!!

Weather wise it should be fine, I guess, since I have been there in July when it was 50 degrees Celsius in Khajuraho and was walking around the whole day in the hot sun!!! So you should have a great time there.

Cheers,
Aadil.

I agree with Aadil, it would be too much travel if u go upto Kajuraho.
For 3 days, another option is to take the Shatabdi till Gwalior, spend a day there, and then move onto Orcha (abt 2 hrs in taxi). Spend two days there and then take the shatabdi back from Jhansi. I believe train is a better option as the timings are good and its its quite fast.

Thanks guys . I guess I need more time for this trip. I will consider this when I have more time.

I would love to drive up the hills for a three day break from Delhi. Please suggest a weekender...

I've done that trip in three days during early October by flying to Khajuraho (Indian Airlines) and then hiring a jeep to drive to Jhansi (to catch the Shatabdi) via Panwa Falls and Orchha. Weather was fabulous, but we only had a couple of hours in Orchha.

If your main interest is the temple complex at Khajuraho 1 day would be enough with maybe an evening walk down to old Khajuraho and the Jain Temple complex!!

I would give Orccha at least a couple of days though!!
