Which Would You Choose??

I'll be staying in the Dadar area, and have heard some of the hotels can be a bit dodgy. Here's the list that I've come up with to choose from. Unfortuntely many do not have websites or pictures, so it's hard to have a clear cut idea of what they're like.

Anyone have experience with or know the reputation of the following hotels?

Amigo Hotel
Hotel Aroma
Hotel Avon Ruby
Hotel Classic
Hotel Hiltop
Hotel Parklane
Red Rose

I had to laugh when I saw the "Hotel Aroma"...I've been to Mumbai before.....we knew the train was coming close to the city when the distinct "aroma" wafted in the windows......

This will only be a one-nighter, my train leaves the next evening. I'd like something decent for the first night. I stayed at Shelley's in Colaba last time, it was very nice. Since I'm flying in during monsoon, I figured I'd better stay close to the outgoing rail station, in case last years rains repeat themselves.

I appreciate any info you can share on these hotels.

Thanks

KariB

The best out of this lot is Hotel Amigo though it is not the cheapest. Not too many nice hotels in this area. Have you considered Hotel Kohinoor opposite the Siddhi Vinayak Temple? It is a bit expensive too but in a good location as well as quite close to the Dadar railway station too. Then there is the Catering College Hotel which is also a bit expensive. Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Aadil.

Whoa.....I don't need luxury...just a hot shower, A/C, clean, no bugs etc.

Shelley's in Colaba was nicer than what I'm used to staying in here in the States!

I'd be nice if there was a "package" store close by....I've been missing the Indian rum for 2+yrs......

Amazing to think I'm finally going back......

I just heard that Shelleys has closed down and is now bought over by another hotel chain which will be developing the place. If you want a room with an AC then it has to be a somewhat luxurious place (at least in India!!!). So the prices do spiral upwards with such luxuries. There is the cheapest place where you will get your favourite drinks nearby at Shivaji Park near the Petrol Pump (Gas Station). Hope that helps.

Cheers,
Aadil.
