Which towns with nices beaches do you consider most friendly
as in title - i'm planning to come to india for few months with my spouse, and we really don't want to travel all the time.
i have online job, so i need internet almost everyday, broadband (i know it won't be us/europe speeds) i was considered finding something to rent in Goa or elsewhere and live there for a while to see if i like it or not. now what other places could you recommend other than Goa? something with beaches and preferably even cooler climate. I read about for example Kerala, but it has even more hot weather and also seemed expensive (on indian standards of course, it is all very cheap by western standards). Also, please consider cost of living, as this is one of the reason i want to live in india for a while. Goa i read, seems more expensive than other parts of India. so maybe there such place, as with a little cooler weather, with nice beach and cheaper than Goa? ![]() |

You are not saying enough to enable a clear response because you are not saying in which time-period or season you want to come. You want to go now when it is getting hotter every day, and expect a cool beach? Does not make sense. So can you define your situation a bit better, mention your budget too, and how much of India you have experienced until now.
BTW, I cannot say that fast broadband Internet is not available in India at all. It can be surprisingly fast at some places, too. |

i want to go when it cools off a little, around september.
i haven't experienced india at all, i've been to egypt 3 times, including cairo of course, so i could imagine how it can look like (i also know it's different, but i'm really ready to experience this, at least i think so) anyways, my budget? well. around 20-30k rupee a month. i will have some emergency money, but this is what i WANT to spend. for 2 people that is. is it possible? i heard so. my budget is not set in stone, but i really don't want to spend too much money. i don't do much, i usually sit in front of my computer when i work, other than that i've planned to rent a bike and ride around on the roads where there is not much traffic. Also to go to beaches and swim a little. go on walks with my girlfriend and so on. nothing special, just chill out a little. we will also make ourself some local trip for sure, but don't count it in the expenses i said above, this will me additional cost. we saw hostel private double rooms, that had high review on hostelbookers for about 10$. maybe there are even cheaper clean rooms, but not on any of the services, so i will look around when i'm there. going to india for 2 weeks planned, pre-paid vacations is not an option for me, it is too expensive. if i do this, i wont be able to fly to india for quite some time. i read all about touts and i think they are funny. i should be more afraid of them mobbing me i suppose. in Egypt, i had a great time playing with them. they always ask about country of origin to value how much you are worth, saying 'hello sir, nice to meet you, where do you come from' and so on. So i usually was telling them i'm from Moldova (which i'm not, but it's a small and poor country - nothing against it though, just an example) Usually they were like 'what? Moldova? where is it?', so i was like 'you don't know where is my lovely country located?'. They were shocked immediatly, and walked away quickly , understanding they got me upset because they dont know where my country is... or maybe then know and they know its poor, so no point trying to get money... anyways, is it like this in india, or i will be mobbed if i do this? i know i'm asking very general question, as india is huuuge country and very different at times, but what do you think. and also, i reapeat, where do you think i could stay, other than Goa, but with broadband internet + preferably cheaper prices and cooler weather. if no such thing exists, just tell me what other nice places i can see other than Goa. |

as to goa, why do you think it's going down? kerala seems to be even hotter than goa, i think the climate on bali might be better than in kerala. as to goa climate, i thought it's pretty much similar. i'm also considering places like bulgaria, which is pretty close to my home country (poland), and egypt. i don't want much from life, i just want a place to be able to go out without wearing 5-layer clothing, cheaper food and so on. polish zloty is one of the best performing currencies in the world for quite some time now, like 6 months, it's just getting cheaper and cheaper to live abroad. Also, i don't like the weather here. Kerala might be a good idea, but being from north-east europe, this might be a shock to me if it comes to temperatures. i don't know, what do you think is easier to bear - 42 C in egypt, with 0 humidity, or 33 C in india/bali with high humidity ? |

You might like Patnem in the south, close to Palolem. Met many nice locals. Sankhet who had the Om restaurant is a very good person and so is his family. Also a women named Argentina is nice and you could rent her house and she'll also cook for you. It's a nice pretty beach with alot of interesting things close by.
