Web Pictures of Hotel Rooms

I've just been reading/adding in our hotels reviews section.

It seems that it often happens that the room you are shown doesn't resemble at all the pictures you've seen on the website.
Perhaps a good idea to print a couple of pictures off so that you've got ammunition when negotiating a price etc once you arrive there,,,,,,,,

A bit like buying a McDonald's Burger.

I took my burger back when I could only count 996 sesame seeds on the bun and there were 1204 in the photo!

Seriously, if the web site photos don't match up to reality (and you're unhappy about it) you shuld be able to get a discount.

Ha! I've seen a man trying to reduce the bill 'cos there was one fewer tomatto slice than in the menu picture!

But what is the knack to photographing a modest size room. How to get pictures that are neither just bits of walls nor wide-angle distortion? What do the pros do? knock a wall down?

Has it ever happened to anyone that the room you got was completely different than those on the website? I'm assuming it's fairly common, what did you do? I'm assuming it's probably better not to pay ahead for a booking.
