veg food in hampi (hospet) & badami

ok guys and gals!

here i come.

first post so let's thank the 'big mike' who started this forum, the smaller mikes who have made this popular and all those who pay (hosting etc) to keep this up.

i put the thanks first so that i can comment now. oops! there are so many sub forums! poor me is so muddleheaded that me prefers to see one or two subheads with the main topics and four or five less crowded sub heads. anyway, gift horse .. etc...

coming to the point. can anyone tell me the restaurants / eateries which give veg food in hampi and badami. if possible, add suggestions for chikmagalur also.

i would be happy if you can mention if
1. ONLY veg is prepared in the hotel/ restaurant
2. if it is ONE( the veg one) of 2 or more restaurants in the same premises

thanks in advance

regards

kas.

Hi there,

Welcome to Indiamike and hope you get out of this site what we feed you!!! Many of the eating places in Hampi and Badami are Vegetarian so you should have no problem at all.

In Badami there is a very nice place just next to the Hotel Mookambika on the main road. It serves all kinds of vegetarian dishes and is very clean and the staff were very attentive and helpful. Cheap prices too. The Hotel Mookambika also has a nice inhouse restaurant.

In Hampi there are a lot of restaurants all lined up on the main Hampi Bazaar road leading to the Virupaksha Temple and many of them are just vegetarian. I am sure you will not find a problem there at all. There were a couple of them where I used to go many times. Venkateshwara Restaurant was one of the most frequented by me and it served good wholesome food as well as fresh fruit juices too. Great place to have breakfast lunch and dinner!!!

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Aadil.

Hi Kas,

I went in June when it was even hotter I suppose but then at that time it was likely to rain so it did cool down in the evenings although it never did rain there at that time.

Hotel Mookambika was the best I found in Badami and the cheapest at (Rs260 including taxes for a double room with attached bath) in comparison to all the other more expensive but not so clean places. The KSTDC place in Badami was lousy in comparison to the one I stayed in Belur which was simply superb for the cheap prices as well.

Cheers,
Aadil.

The phone number of the Hotel Mookambika delux is 08357-220067

Yes, Cyberhippie, the one just next to the Mookambika is the restaurant with the steps going up. Excellent food and service too.

The Mookambika Deluxe address is Opp. KSRTC Bus Stand, Badami - 587201. And the telephone numbers are 091-08357-220067 or 220997. Fax number is 091-08357-220106. The tariff for a non airconditioned twin room was Rs260 inclusive of 4% luxury tax. Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Aadil.
