We stayed here by chance in February 2002 because Shiv Niwas overbooked. We really liked this place! Disagreeing with Fodor's review, we did not find the rooms "spartan." On the contrary, they were tastefully decorated in contemporary Indian decor, extremely clean and came with every amenity, including a coffee pot. The public areas, bar, restaurant, exercise area and grounds with beautiful pool, all surpassed our expectations. Highly recommended!

I can confirm that Trident Hilton in Udaipur is an exceptional good hotel. The pool is wonderful. The rooms have all you could ask for and the service is 5*. The surroundings is also very romantic. We walked through the gardens every evening to watch the sun set over the mountains and overlook the (dry) lake. We definitely will go back to this hotel.

If budget is not a factor then try Udaivilas next time and i bet you'll say it is the Best !
