Two quotes for the one service

I have been chasing quotes for my brother for airport transfer (Chennai) to Sea Breeze Hotel(Mahapalipuram) + two night accommadation.

I found a web site that offered the room for rp800 per night which they assured my was rp100 less than the offered rate. I emailed them for a quote and this was their reply.

*The cost for Chennai Airport to Hotel sea Breeze Mahapalipuram for a/c ambassador car is Rs. 1500/-



The cost for hotel one single room a/c including Tax and breakfast for 2 nights at sea breeze Mahapalipuram is Rs. 3300/- so please advise your remarks.

When I questioned the difference in rates I was informed that the web site was three years old and that prices had increased in this period.

I found the Sea Breeze email account and requested of them the same services. This was their reply.

Thanks for your mail,yes we have room at the date ,the tariff
for that room Rs.420 .the Airport pickup Rs,900.please send the
confirmation.Thankyou.

That is a saving of rp3060 so it can pay to shop around.

Seems a little hard to believe that the same room is half the price! They have definately quoted for AC? ANyway, stranger things have happened,so congrats on your savings

According to the rates advertised by a national car company in Chennai newspaper 1500 for the pickup would be a rip off (so maybe the room rate was too?). 900 is probably a little high, as the advertised rates are for a day out to Mahabs, 10 hours, returning to Chennai and vary 850 to 1400 depending on size of vehicle. ...But not so high as to warrant spending time on saving a further couple of hundred only!
