travelling to india over xmas and new year
Hi there,
Not booked flghts yet, but looking to travel to india from 16 Dec to 6 Jan to spend xmas and new year in India.
Planning to Start off in mumbai and then flying to goa before the start of xmas and then perhaps moving further south to other beaches before new year, and then flying up to delhi for a few days before heading back to mumbai.
Do i need to pre book accommodation or can i pick up some on the way? And how much will it cost for a bug free room for me and my girlfriend?
Also, How will internal travel be affected by the holiday season?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi
You can really spend as much or as little as you want. When I go to Mumbai I spend about 1000 RP a night, but when my Girlfriend went with me we spent about 3000 Rp for decent accomodation. I seem to remember Delhi is a bit cheaper.
As for Goa, you will find a range, say minimum 300 - bed bugs more or less guaranteed and a few cockroaches- to maybe about 700 ish for a clean guesthouse to maybe 1500 for a nice ish hotel, to say 3000 ish for a good one, or 8000 for a 3 or 4 star international standard hotel. (all prices in Indian Rupees and per night)
During Christmas and new year the prices do rocketand your 700 a night guest house can easily tripple its price, I have known small hotels upping the rate from 1000 a night to 5000 on Dec 22,23,24,25,26 and 30,31, and 1st and 2nd Jan.
