staying in Varkala late season
I'm heading for Varkala as soon as my tummy's allright, should have been there some weeks ago already. Anyone knows wheather the season is completely over now? Or are there still some places open, any recommendations for lodgings?

I'm in Varkala right now. Apart from some heavy rain two and three days ago, it's very pleasant. Although many of the cliff-top shops and restaurants are closed for the season, some are still open. Several lodges are open, and room rates are about half the season price. I have a beautiful sunny room with balcony and unlimited wireless internet for Rs 275, at Bohemian Masala, aka Akshay Beach Resort, on the beach road near Temple Junction. I'm tempted to stay a few days more. Very few tourists here now. It's rather nice in the off-season.

We stayed at Hotel Green Palace. The room(A/C Double) was quite large, clean and the service prompt and friendly. The rates are about half the normal rates. Santa Claus All Seasons Village is another good option in the same price range.(Rs.500-1000). The view from their sea facing rooms is among the best along the cliff and they have a small pool in the courtyard. For further options regarding lodging along the north cliff try enquiring at the Blue Moon restaurant. They can arrange for Bamboo huts or other cheaper places along the stretch. |

we stayed at SS beach resort on the Helipad at northend..that was in second half of March and paid Rs. 1000 for a double room with a airconditioner and see facing balcony....
At this time the rates would have gone down for sure..depends what u want.. I am not sure if you want and airconditoned room but you can easily get that for less that Rs.500 got single.. |

Thank's for the good replies, so sorry I could not check them before now. I got stuck in Ernakalum and had loads of adventures with a kerelian millionaire, so that sort of changed plans...Great fun though.
