I am planning to visit Shimla and Manali on 28th Dec - 4th Jan10with family. We are coming to Delhi by flight in the afternoon and want to catch Kalka mail,Shivalik dlx. exp and then to Shimla. Stay there for 2 nights and go by dlx bus to Manali and stay for 3 nights (Four days) and back to delhi by Sleeper/Volvo bus.
This is my tour plan.I have few doubts about following points. Please help me to solve this. 1.We do not know fairly good hotel (Rs.1500/ TO 2000/-).We have been advised to stay in KUNZAM in Manali and Holiday home in Shimla. Since these hotels are in the city centre, it is easy to move around. These hotels are Govt. hotels and so we are worried about the service and maintanance. 2.Till now we have not visited snowfall regeion and so my children wants to enjoy playing in snow. But I am worried whether we can withstand the cold in winter. Please somone advise. K.M.UPADHYA Last edited by kmupadhya : Jul 28th, 2009 at 22:53. Reason: NOT SIGNED |

Hi, regarding snow you have to be lucky to get it in Shimla or Manali.
There are many hotels at both the places, searching on the site would throw up some names. PS. Welcome to Indiamike. |

No I have not stayed at Kunzum.
Rohtang Pass should have snow then but I doubt if the town will have snow. If you google, the temperature should be available, I have been there only in summer. |

Thanks for your quick reply. Iwill try to google and gather information.
Are there any sleeper coach busses from Manali to Delhi? Are these coaches comfortable? Govt. or Private? K.M.

I would suggest the Volvo buses run by HRTC and HPTDC.
You can book HRTC buses online using www.hp.gov.in/hrtctickets/ HPTDC bus tickets can not be booked online. |

my 2 night stay in Manali was at the hotel riverbank which for a budget hotel was fantastic. It's well situated, rooms cost from rs 450 to rs 1000, its well run wth clean and simple rooms. I would recommend it. I stayed in Shimla just the one night and unhelpfully i can't remember the name of the hotel.
