renting a house
Forty years ago, when I used to travel in india, I liked to stay a month or two at different places;i.e. beach at puri, or a village a train ride from calcutta, etc. Will I be able to find native style houses with courtyard in villages, and chill out, or find a tabla instructor, or a cook? Rather than staying in urban hotels. any ideas of current typical rents?

I remember those old rents, too. Our place in Puri was about $10/month, maybe less. It wasn't too close to the beach. But that was 1971, and Puri was practically deserted. If you haven't been there since the 60s-70s, you are in for a very big surprise!

rent a house in puri
Puri was kind of a carnival town. I did not go to see the jaggernaut which I now know is parked there. What does it all look like now?
