Recommendations for Jodhpur
Any recommendations for somewhere mid-range in Jodhpur (I'm traveling with an 11 year old). Something atmospheric and friendly if that's not too much to ask.
Thanks so much as always KarinaM |

I am pretty sure of the name and it's just "The Haveli". I think it is listed in LP now, sorry I don't a number but it's a decent family run place. I stayed there some years ago before the LP invasion so I am not sure how it is now. Back then it was pretty nice.

a very nice place that i have heard about and with a home atmosphere and home cooking, especially since u are travelling with a 11 yr old, should be a benefit. The addresse is:
'Indrashan' 593, high court colony, jodhpur-342001. they r mentioned in a german travel site 'Rajputana Discovery' and well recommended there too. If i remember their rates with food were very reasonable. i can't find the email and telephone...i think its 0091-291-238593 |

Hello,
We stayed in a lovely, lovely place called Devi Bhawan. Relaxed, extremely friendly, gorgeous garden and fantastic food (and the cook is one character!). The price was around INR 700. They have a web-site: http://www.devibhawan.com. Thierry Brussels, Belgium |

We stayed at the Devi Bhawan too and were very pleased. The cook sure is a character!! Very friendly and chatty and the food was excellent and cheap. They've got reasonably priced internet connection too, but it was v-e-r-y slow...!

Hello Thierry,
We are also planning to go to Jodhpur. We are going to trek throughout Rajasthan. Perhaps, you already went there and have some tips for us (attractions, hotels, places to eat, ... ?) PS. We are living near Hasselt Thanks in advance, Tom + Mona |

This place Rajputana discovery as recommended by Indiawise is not upto mark. We visited this place on 21st October 2004. This guest house is first of all located at a distance of 5kms from the railway station which is quite far off according to Jodhpur standard Area 70sq.Km. (Delhi is 1500 Sq.Km.) The family lives on the ground floor and the the guest rooms are on the top. the rooms are very small (10*10 feet) and with very poor ventilation. Infact it is just like any ordinary house in your city. Nothing faboulous about it. Infact the family doesn't even cares whether there is guest in the room or not. When we were planning to leave for the airport we found that our room was bolted from outside. After much shouting... someone from the next doors informed the family about this. After having this experience I would not suggest any guesthouse for a stay and "Indrashan" or "Rajputana Discovery" - - NEVER |
