Recent review of Metropolitan Hotel in Delhi?

Hello Folks - I am looking for a recent review of the Metropolitan Hotel in New Delhi. The latest reviews I found here were from 2006. They are running a special right now for less than Rs5000 per night.

Such a low rate for a five star hotel should tell you a story....

Very well located but currently in a cramped location thanks to construction activity. The only time one hears of it being talked about every now and then is because of its Japanese restaurant which is supposed to be very good (I don't know - not into japanese food).

Having said all this, at a mere Rs. 5,000 (for a 5 star that is) it should be worth it.

That seems rather nice price for it. The location is quite good. I looked at the website for a stay in December, but the lowest price was around Rs. 7500. So, this is actually a good price for sure!

Do share the details of the promotion!

The website is http://hotelmetdelhi.com/index.php

It seems that the good rates are because it is monsoon season right now. The website says that these special rates are from 19 June - 4 October.

We'll most likely book the room and I will let you all know how it went. We plan to go this weekend.

You are right. Having checked the rates for November we will give it a miss. Hope you have a nice stay.

I said I would post a review of our stay and I am finally doing it. Sorry for the LONG delay.

It is definitely not a five-star hotel, but I can see that it was once in its heyday. It needs a major renovation. I guess some parts have been updated, but it still needs some work. It was worth the monsoon rate we paid. The technology in the rooms was ahead of its time when it was new - like having a button near the bed to indicate "Do not Disturb" on a light outside the door. No need to have to use a door sign.

The breakfast was pretty good, but we were really looking forward to the seafood buffet and it was a MAJOR disappointment - nothing like the description on the website. We decided not to eat there and had McDonald's delivered instead. Much more satisfying.

The Sakura restaurant was the best part of our stay. The service and food were excellent!

Metro needs an update, but worth it if you can get good internet rates. Do not pay rack rates!

Considering that this hotel is not very old (opened up about 10 years ago), it seems to have depreciated very fast.
