Pushkar lodging in camel fair

I am going to Pushkar on 13-11-2008. Plan to stay only one night. I used to book hostel in advance. This time, it seems impossible for me to do so because of the camel fair. There is no budget or economic hostel available from the internet. There are only some expensive one that i can't afford.

I heard the fair is going on during 10-13/11/2008. Is there smuch to see during 13-14/11-2008(at the end of fair)? Still very noisy and crowded?

Any one can tell me if I go there on the above-mentioned date, is it possible for me to find a room to stay on the spot? My budget is USD30-40 per night. Otherwise I have to change my intineary. Pls give some suggestion on where to stay in Pushkar.

By the way, do you think a non ac room is ok in the middle of November?

Thanks.

Pushkar Festival

The 13th is the end but the peak of the festival as that's the day of the full moon. Forget the Hindi name but the 13th is the most important day. After that, it's over.

By the time you get there on the 13th won’t be many camels left. But it will be flooded with people in colorful attire. Watch out for pickpockets with all of the bumping and pushing to get around when it’s this crowded. Riding on the back of a camel makes for a fun way to get around at this time, and you get a good view too.
You will have no problem finding a place to stay.
Only those who will risk going too far
can possibly find out how far one can go.

I am based in Delhi, with 5 days working. As the fair is right in the middle of week, so am thinking of 12-16 Nov. I would prefer to drive from delhi. Any suggestions to make better use of time and resources would b appreciated.

That's what quite a few of my friends are doing, I am heading there on Friday morning and would be back by Sunday night. A full day there is more than enough to get the feel of the place and do some photography.

So, I'm thinking about going to the camel festival, too, taking a train from Chennai that gets in close to 1 am. I can't find any place online to book a room, do you think it's reasonable to believe that I could find a place that late that night, or does anyone know of places to stay that might not be listed online that I could set up ahead of time? Thanks.
