Payment for Aurangabad tour
Payment for Aurangabad tour
I'm planning to visit the Ajanta & Ellora caves, and am trying to
reserve everything up front since I will be there in the high
season month of January. I got a quote from the "Classic Travel Services, Aurangabad" agency which seems quite reasonable. The only thing holding me
back is that they want me to deposit money in their bank account
rather than charge my credit card.
Has anyone had experience with this company? Is a direct bank deposit
the only way I am going to get a driver to the caves reserved up
front? I will only be in Aurangabad one day (can't swing another day), and
my guess is that it would be hopeless to try to arrange a driver when I get there and do both caves in a single day.
My bank wants $40 to do a bank wire to India, which seems like an insane amount of money compared to
the cost of my car and driver for a day.

I would be seriously worried about sending cash to someone I don't even know!
Unfortunately, a lot of the travel companies in India don't take credit cards, and when you pay into their bank or by Western Union transfer, you have no protection at all.
Paying by credit card gives you a refund guarantee if the transaction is fraudulent.
If anyone on IndiaMike can vouch for the bona fides of this company, then you need not feel so worried about sending cash!
Caveat Emptor!

Both caves in a single day is tough, but hiring drivers isn't. Drivers are everywhere and someone is always available. If I were you, I would skip Ajanta (it's farther from Aurangabad) and spend the day at Ellora and the Daulatabad Fort (between Ellora and Aurangabad). Plus, there are a few sites in the city if you have some more time.
