One Day/ Night In Mumbai
Hello!
Can anybody recommend me a hotel in Mumbai airport area? I will arrive into the domestic terminal on March 16th around 16:00 and flying back to Europe the next day in the afternoon. I know I have very limited time but I would still like to visit Mumbai to some extent. What are the “must visit” in Mumbai with such a short time? What would be the most convenient accommodation option? Should I book something in Mumbai or in the airport surroundings? Thank you very much! |

Book you room near the Airport premises only.
There are many hotels near the domestic terminals Like Orchid Ecotel, Bawa Intl., one hotel name Airport Intl., etc., Near Intl., airport also there are lots of hotel like Leela, Lotus Suites, ITC Grand Maratha to name a few. Yes One day is too short for Mumbai. There are religious places like Siddhivinayak Temple, Mahalaxmi temple. haji ali dargah. Beaches like Juhu Chowpatty (near from Airport), Girgaum chowpatty etc., Monuments like GateWay of India, Rajabai Tower & Many more old british type buildings. Ronak. |

Thank you very much!
I guess I will have to rush trough the city and plan some extra days in Mumbai during my next visit to India. I had pre-booked a Hotel called Sahil near central station but I will take your advice and book something near the domestic airport, by the way, do you have any preference for a particular hotel near the domestic airport? silvia |

Hotel Sahil is near Mumbai Central station & very far from the Airport. It would not be advisable to come to Mumbai central with Luggage & again go back in one day. Also the area (approach road) is not that good although the Hotel is good.
I don't have any pref. of hotels near Airport as never had the chance to stay (I have got my house near Mumbai Central at Grant Road) But Orchid Ecotel is a good hotel (Price would be higher - as compared to Bawa Intl - Airport Intl.) Next time at least keep 3 - 4 days to see entire Mumbai. You see Mumbai is a very big city. Bye & Happy Journey. Ronak. |

mumbai hotel
I highly recommend Lotus eco-suites. Very clean, quiet place approx 10-15 minutes from airport but not in area you'd want to walk around in. Many waiting taxis outside hotel doors. Free airport pick-up and drop-off. Huge buffet breakfast also included in the price. I paid 120$ through their web site. I was quoted much higher over the phone so web booking is best.

Personally, I would book a hotel downtown (Colaba area), as mind you the airports are more than 1 hour in taxi away from the Gateway etc). There you can walk around, look in shops, find a nice place to eat etc...
If you are interested in Ghandi, visit his house in Bombay (Mani Bhavan), it is a small 'museum' - visit takes maybe 45 minutes. |
