Number of People in Hotel Rooms
Traveling to Delhi, Agra, Jaipur and Kerala this december.
We are a total 5 - 3 of them children 12,7,5. Suprised at the cost of 4-5 star hotels in Delhi. Tried to book hotels rooms for all of us on the internet. Most hotels will not allow it because it exceeds the 3 individual allowed per room. I cannot afford nor is it safe for me to take an extra room for the three children. Are these hotels seroius about there policy. Will they allow it if I call them OR is it a money making scam by these hotels. |

5 seems excessive for a room. I think most hotels wouldn't allow it.

Try homestays
I have the same situation for travel this month. The high end hotels are indeed expensive for booking two rooms. In lower priced hotels, there is a definite safety issue. Besides, you don't want jetlagged kids alone in a strange place. In either case, it is unlikely you will be able to fit 5 in one room.
We're planning to stay at B&B/homestay type of places, run by families. In the interest of safety, you may think of one adult and 1 or two kid(s) per room instead of all kids in one room and parents in the other. |

Budget aside, it should be easy to get two rooms with a connecting door which can be left open.

Hotels tend to be strict about the number of people in a room. Some hotels will allow extra beds to be brought in (at extra cost per person), but it's usually 1-2 max (meaning a total of 4 people per room).
Why not consider dropping from 4-5 star down to 3-4 ? The quality of hotel rooms is quite good and, if there are 2 adults, couldn't one adult stay in each of the rooms with the children ? Cheers Zoltan

yes the five star hotels are expensive - but an extra bed in a room with two singles is about the most you'll get in most hotels (maybe 4 at a stretch). Aside from space constraints - 4-5 people sharing one bathroom could also be problematic. Zoltan's idea is a good one - try dropping down to a 3-4 start and see what you can do.
Also as the capt said - any reason why you can't get a joining rooms and leave the door between them open? We are a family of 5 and this is pretty much the case for us when ever we travel (we did get upgraded to a suite once when the hotel flooded one of our rooms......very nice.....the kids especially enjoyed the bath with water jets once they added bubble bath mixture)!

There is sth called a suite! That is what you are looking for.
There are goodvalue offers in Delhi, no need for 4/5*! |

Will we run into this too?
Hi, Just thought I'd jump on this thread. We will have 4 traveling (2 adults & 2 kids). Will we run into the same problem? Should we be looking at booking suites only?
Also, if you have an itinerary we would love to see it as we have a similar plan and time line. ![]() |

If one of the kids is young, you may be able to push for it.
If both teenagers, difficult. |

2 girls:
they will be 9 & 10 at the time. Just so I understand, will they be sharing a roll-in cot or will we be able to bring in 2? |

There are special family rooms. No it won't be a problem! Make shure the kids behave and leave a good impression checking in and have some loose bling in da pocket and off you go!

Surprised by the cost of 4 and 5 star hotels in Delhi? Why? They are 4 and 5 star hotels! In a capital city no less!
