Non-AC hotel rooms

Hi, all! I'm going to be in mostly south India from May to July. Will I be utterly miserable in rooms without AC? How cool might it be at night? If it's relatively cool, I might chance it.

I'm wondering, though, if i might use my hotel room more during the day for a break or two from the heat if it's got AC. In that case it might be worth the extra money.

Any thoughts would be wecome! Thanks!

Quite a while since I've been in South India but I do remember being grateful for the a/c when in the plains, near sea-level heights there. No need whilst up in the Nilgiris or Kodaikanal.

South now is hot, humid and sticky except the hill stations which might require a fan. Check into an A/c room and you wont regret it !

i agree...no point coming for vacation and then not enjoying it... plus once you get there and you think u can manage without it then u can always ask to be downgraded...

I agree with everyone else. South India from May onwards - requires an AC room except in the hill stations. You will appreciate it especially, when you return hot and sticky from your days expedition ! Besides, the difference in rates may not be that much. Certain areas, as in the rest of India, may have fixed daily power cuts so it may be a good idea to check the timings with the hotels.
